July 29, 2026Bank of Commerce (BankCom)’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Head of the Information Technology Risk Management Department (ITRMD), Mr. Rommelwin M. Ardidon, has been reappointed to the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) Cybersecurity Committee for the 2026-2027 term. His reappointment affirms his valuable contributions to the banking industry and recognizes his expertise in cybersecurity, information security risk management, and digital resilience. It also reinforces BankCom’s active support for industry-wide collaboration in addressing emerging cyber risks and strengthening trust in digital financial services. As banks and financial institutions continue to expand their digital capabilities, cybersecurity remains a critical priority. Through the BAP Cybersecurity Committee, member banks are able to exchange threat intelligence, share practical insights, and work together in strengthening the banking sector’s overall cybersecurity position. Mr. Ardidon believes that fostering collaboration and cyber threat intelligence sharing through improved platform and processes should remain the committees’ primary focus. “The Committee has always played an important role in fostering collaboration and cyber threat intelligence sharing among member banks, and I believe this should remain our primary focus,” Mr. Ardidon said. He added that improving the platforms and processes used for information sharing can help banks receive more timely and actionable threat intelligence, allowing institutions to prepare for emerging risks before these become more widespread across the industry. “My hope is to see a banking industry that continues to mature not only in its cybersecurity capabilities, but also in its willingness to collaborate. We can continue improving on the sharing of cybersecurity incidents and lessons learned. Information shared responsibly and through trusted industry channels enable other institutions to strengthen their defenses against similar attacks,” he said. “Ultimately, a more collaborative banking community will lead to a stronger and more resilient financial sector,” he added.
