Phishing is a way of attempting to get personal information such as username and password. This is normally done through an e-mail which will redirect the user to visit a website where he will be asked to update personal information, such as User ID, PIN, passwords, bank account, credit card numbers, etc. which will then be used for identity theft. The website displayed which is almost identical to the legitimate one is fake and was only set up to steal the user’s information for any unauthorized activities, purchases, etc. Frequent techniques that are used by the fraudsters include, but are not limited to the following: Using false email addresses, logos, and graphics to mislead you into accepting the validity of the emails and web sites; Fake domain names to appear representing the Bank; Duping you into providing personal details through one or more methods such as hyperlinks to fake websites or embedded forms in emails.
